Values
Our narrative theology and values form the core from which our mission and rhythms spring. Together this forms a broad rule of life that calls us to be a part of a simple, yet profound faith expresion in a community of Christ followers. This is the framework we've adopted for both what we want to become together and how we go about becoming those things.
Justice
To be a community that actively seeks justice for the poor, marginalized, and oppressed. We believe that Justice is what love ! looks like in public. It is our desire to be a community that seeks to ! intersect the gospel of Jesus with the great social ills of our world to ! bring hope and love to all. // Psalm 89.14; 94.15; Proverbs 21.3, 15; ! Amos 5.24; Luke 4.18-19 //
Community
To be a gathering of people who authentically share and live life ! together. It is our desire to be a community who is known for authentic, ! transparent relationships in our IKON groups, our weekly gatherings, ! and our everyday interactions with the IKON community and the city as ! a whole. We desire to be known for the love that binds us together in ! unity and the love we have for our city and the world. // John 13.34-35; ! Acts 2.42-47; Ephesians 4.15; Colossians 1.17-18 //
Faith
To be a community of holistic faith that expresses the gospel and ! reveals the Kingdom of God. It is our desire to be a community that ! seeks to live out and communicate our love for God through our lives as ! a whole. Our understanding of faith embraces the larger concept of how ! we relate to God and our response to God’s love and His desire for our ! world.
// Romans 8.1-2; 12.4-8; Ephesians 2.8-10; James 2.17//
Beauty
To communicate, celebrate, and serve Jesus in the most beautiful ! and creative ways possible. It is our desire to communicate Jesus in a ! poetic way, reaching deep within the hearts of the people and revealing ! the love, grace, and compassion of who He is. We desire to be ! surrounded by the beauty of Jesus and to unleash that beauty on the ! world.
// Hebrews 1.3; Colossians 1; Philippians 2; John 1 //
Generosity
To be a community marked by generosity with one another and the ! community at large. It is our desire to express the gospel through ! generous acts of living both large and small that help people experience ! the grace, love, and joy of who Jesus is. // Psalm 112.5; Matthew 25.40; ! Acts 2.42; Acts 4.32-35; 2 Corinthians 9.11 //
