Relational Rhythms
San Francisco is the second densest city in America and despite being within a mile of almost 20,000 people it often feels lonely. Urban loneliness is more than a myth, for many it's reality. Yet, in our present day we have more tools for communicating than ever before. These tools allow us to have a greater number of connections but often with lesser depth and intentionality. It seems as though it is becoming more and more difficult to truly connect with one another.
It is for this reason IKON chooses to embody three relational rhythms: Triad, Families, and Gathering. It is through these rhythms that we seek to live life together. We do not do this just for ourselves, but for our adversaries, our neighbors, our city, and ultimately the world.
FAMILY | 8-20 participants
Families embody every core value [community, faith, beauty, generosity] with the goal of being a place for holistic gospel integration. Families gather to "do life together" highlighting our posture of hospitality and care for one another This hospitality can be seen in frequent meals, parties and emotional support. Here is where new relationships are formed and the diversity of community is celebrated.
Families are also focused on serving their neighborhood. We have come to see that it's only through the particular, the ordinary, and the stuff of everyday life that we can hope to be a part of change in the universal. This is why we concentrate our efforts on the everyday fabric of our neighborhood by cultivating partnerships with schools, organizations, business leaders, activists, community organizers, and anyone else who loves San Francisco and wants to make it a better place to live.
